Dear Mike,
I think you must have the professional edition of the Panorama of EU
Industry CD-ROM. This contains a complete set of data in its raw state, and
is designed for use by professional statisticians and researchers who are
experienced in manipulating the data to achieve the specific extractions
that they require.
As you say, this differs completely from the CD-ROM version of the printed
Panorama of EU Industry, which is known as the Standard CD-ROM. The printed
edition and the Standard CD-ROM were published for 1997, but not for 1998.
In that year only the professional CD-ROM was produced.
However, Eurostat has just released some good news:
' “Panorama of EU Industry 1999”: Eurostat paper publication.
The new publication is complete in English although it will only be
published when the other linguistic versions (FR, DE) are ready. Hopefully
before Xmas, otherwise second week January 2000.
It comprises 24 sectors in industry, construction and services, each one
with 20-30 pages. Approx. price: euro 60.
Two CD-ROMS will be also for sale (each CD in 3 languages: EN, FR, DE):
1. Standard CD-Rom with same information as paper publication plus
methodology, glossary, nomenclatures and other data from NC and Trade
Associations, etc. Approx. price: euro 100.
2. CD-Rom for professionals with very large country detail. Difference with
standard CD-Rom: the amount of data included. Approx. price: euro 1000.'
Hopefully that will keep everyone happy.
Best regards,
Chris
