Dear Crit'ers,
ouch, what an awful place to find myself in... policing a list... a spot
that all three co-moderators vowed we would not get into if at all possible.
however, my earlier message about toning down the comments on the list was
aimed at more than one member of the forum. To be clear, there are too
many snide remarks and sarcastic asides flying around here... do they lead
to more critical scholarship and emancipatory practice... I cannot see how.
If people want to make sarcastic comments to someone else, do it off the
list please. Remember we are trying to be inclusionary.
Also, for the record, i've written to david c. to request that he does not
make such public comments. i've also written to raju d. to express my
concern that he stay on the list and continue to discuss radical political
economy.
isn't it interesting in our pursuit of opening space for one kind of
difference we fail to see how we close off such spaces for other kinds of
difference. in that vein, we do need to think about how all of us may be
exclusionary (and this has sure been a learning experience for me... and
i'm still making lots of mistakes).
now, i hope to retire to my real job and never make another 'official'
posting to the list as cgf co-moderator. i'm sure you will all be happy
never to receive another cgf message from me as well.
best wishes to all,
lawrence
