Chair in Social Policy
Applications are invited for a Chair in Social Policy in the
multidisciplinary School of Sociology and Social Policy. The successful
candidate will have an outstanding record of research scholarship in any
area of social policy, a national and international reputation, and be able
to secure research funds to complement the existing substantial level of
external research income in the School.
Salary will be within the Professorial range, minimum £37,420 per annum
(under review).
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Policy
Applications are also invited for a Lectureship in Social Policy. The
critical qualities required in candidates are research and publication
excellence, ability to secure research funding and interests that
complement the areas of the School's current research strengths. These
include major groups in gender and social relations, health policy and
medical sociology, professions and professional work. Other research
interests include culture, Eastern Europe, socio-legal, qualitative
methods, and food. The successful candidate might be able to contribute to
any of these areas or to areas such as social security, family policy,
poverty or social welfare theory. The School may consider an exceptional
candidate offering outstanding qualities for a Senior Lectureship.
Salary will be within the range £16,655 - £29,048 per annum (Lecturer scale
- under review) or £30,496 - £34,464 per annum (Senior Lecturer scale -
under review), depending on qualifications and experience.

The incoming Professor and Lecturer will join an established and
regenerated multidisciplinary School with undergraduate degree programmes
in social policy, sociology and social and cultural studies, a range of MA
programmes, an MA/Diploma in Social Work and a post-experience MSW, and a
growing number of research council funded MPhil/PhD students.
