Giilian for Uni here. I see you are doing your coursework on the same mailing list as me. Darren says that internet explorer already has all of the abilties that you mention senoir internet users prefering.
You can turn off all pictures by clicking on tools then internet options, Advanced then scroll down until you find the mutimedia section and various things such as pictures and sounds can be turned off and on.
If you want me to find out more i can ask darren.

Perhaps you should have a really good look at the web browser and see if there are any functions that it does not have.
