Dear Anthony,
I find Victor Frankle a exemplary survivor. I remember that he wrote in
some of his books on the topic. In my book (see below) there are also a
few case stories
of survivors that came to me for counseling.
The train disaster must indeed have been a great shock and trauma for
many but to compare it with the impact of the holocaust .... I wonder if
you possibly could compare the wounds left. I understand that you make
this association and I find it not offensive or anything like that but
only a comparison that is difficult to make.
I had a few days ago an interview on the Reshet A Radio net about my
work and the 1st aid line I operate. A high percentage of the persons
that called me after the program were
survivors. Two of them told me about there life long experience of
loneliness...(they lost all family, friends, acquaintances, they lost
their world.....everything around them was wiped away as it were...They
both felt, 50 years later, as if they had not been able to recover these
loses in spite of that they had families and lived a life.) I think if
one can compare the holocaust to anything it might be best compared to
an about 5 year long immense strong earthquake in humanity.
Sincerely,
Shlomit Schuster
