Hi Dan
Most children that I have treated with Osgood Schlatters disease have
responded well to just 'rest'. That is rest from activities which increase
their pain eg football, due to the strain placed on the quadriceps insertion
when kicking the ball. They should resume normal activites asap, but in the
meantime should do painfree quads maintenance exercises eg static quads, and
avoid kneeling. I also suggest ice packs. Of course there are always some
children who will need much more than this including help to return to
normality.
