Hi there
Here at the Royal Marsdeen we have a lot of experience in patients of this
kind.
We routinely seen patients pre-op and 1st day post-op.
The regime is as follows;
Day 1(drains in situ): short lever exs for shoulder into abd and flex (to 90
deg only), med and lat rot.
General advice regarding return to ADL, dos and donts, potential risks of
lymphoedema etc.
When drains out : exercises as above but long lever
When stitches out/O-Pt folow-up: advanced stretches as able. Assess for
cording, swelling, pain.
I hope this is useful. Please contact me directly for any further help.
