questionnaires to measure behaviour, attitudes and values, pretesting,
piloting postal surveys, project management and administration, and
minimising non-response.</paraindent>
<paraindent><param>left</param><flushboth>The course will include workshop sessions so that participants can work
through practical exercises. Teaching staff are present in between
sessions and on the evening of day 1, in order to discuss questionnaire
issues arising in individual participants' research. Numbers are limited to
facilitate such participant support. </paraindent></flushboth>

<paraindent><param>left</param><smaller>Roger Thomas is the Director of CASS. He has had long experience of
designing, running and managing surveys and is currently at the
National Centre for Social Research’s Survey Methods Centre, where he
participates in the programme of methodological research and
consultancy in survey methods.</paraindent>

Services at the University of Newcastle.</paraindent></flushboth>

bursaries are available which reduce the fee to £65. Applicants for
