Dear Sirs
I am a Heritage Management student at The University of Greenwich and I
propose to write a conservation plan for Cliffe Fort.
Cliffe Fort was built as a result of the Royal Commission of 1860. It was
one of the four forts constructed in the 1860's as a Thames defence. In
1885 it was adapted as a torpedo station but it is the only one in Kent of
which any trace exists. The fort has been derelict for some years, yet is
structurally sound.
Unfortunately, there is no sign that it is or will be preserved or
conserved.
If anyone can assist me in any way with my project, I will be extremely
grateful.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully
Linda Tizzard
