Tim Connel's message on "Plain tales", with which I more or less agree (but
"The Gardener" !) came as I had just read "The Bronkhorst divorce case".
I did read it again just now in order to ascertain my feelings about its
lack of internal coherence.
There is something missing between the two parts of the tale, the second one
beginning at "After three years of this cheerful life..."
It is my opinion that a man who behaves with his wife as RK so brilliantly
descibes him to do in the first part, would never divorce, at the cost of
loosing the favorite victim of his sadism.
Lack of space once more must have forced RK to cut ; That Biel "was rather
attentive" to his wife does not seem to provide the necessary incentive.
