I think that one probably should look at the actual numbers of users. I think
Nud*ist (Nvivo) and ATLAS.ti just have a higher profile. There are also lots of
people out there using The Ethnograph, but they just seem to be a lot
quieter..... There are email lists for all of the above three listed programs
but the traffic on these lists is quite differently.
Could that be related to the complexity of the program (I am just guessing
here), e.g. users of the more complex programs may have more questions?
Could it be that different user groups have developed a different user culture,
e.g. dependent on the point in time when the email discussion list was
established?
etc.
