Dear List:
RE: Chiropractors and "manipulation"
I live in Atlanta, GA, home of Life Chiropractic, the largest chiropracic
college in the world. It is interesting that in their book store they have
many books on joint mobilization and exercise written by PTs. Soon they
will rewrite the books with DC titles I am sure.
Furthermore, the oft quoted studies from the AHCPR on manipulation being
suggested for acute LBP, many/some were actually performed by PTs in
England. It is not so much that I think that chiropractors shouldn't be
using these techniques, it is just that they are "claiming" all manual
treatment of the spine as their own. They also are lobbying to be allowed
to perform "rehabilitation" in Georgia. There is a definate problem with
encroachment.
