Dear listmembers,
Should I re-introduce myself? I have been lurking for almost a year now. My
name is Frans van Liere, and I am Assistant Professor at Calvin College.
My research interests are medieval exegesis, more specifically the Victorine
school and exegesis in the early Universities. Last summer, I've started to
explore an old pet topic, the biography of pope John XXII.
The query I have is not connected to this. My wife and I are expecting our
second child in November. During a child-birth freshup class (remember all
those breathing exercises and so on), the topic of female emotions during
labor and childbirth came up, especially that of anger towards one's partner.
I seem to have read somewhere that there were medieval curses for women to
curse their husband during childbirth.
Here's the question: Does anyone know such a curse? Where could I find
appropriate literature about it?
PS. Don't tell my wife !! :-)
bests,
