A reminder that, although the early bird registration date has now passed,
registrations are still being accepted for "Post Haste the Millennium:
Opportunities and Challenges in Local Studies", the 2nd National Local
Studies Conference organised by the Local Studies National Section of the
Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). The Conference will
be held on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 November 1999, at the Rose and Crown
Hotel, Guildford, Western Australia.
The Conference aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of local history
enthusiasts and to promote understanding and collaboration between
individuals and organisations committed to the preservation of Australia's
cultural heritage. The Conference programme features:
* International, national and local presenters
* Australia at the millennium
* Importance of movable cultural heritage in Australia
* Management of local history resources
* Management of heritage places
* Researching family and community history
* Technology and local history
