It depends although Garzanti's "big" dictionary will include many, possibly
all that you will require possibly not if you are working with specific
types of texts, say diplomatic texts. But if you are reading literature, I'd
say Garzanti and Sansoni and Zanichelli's larger volumes should suffice.

PS Of course there's always il Grande Dizionario of UTET in, what 20
volumes. You'll need lots of money and space for that or you can find it in
a library that has a good italian language and litt section. Probably your
University.
