DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL AND POLICY SCIENCES
TEMPORARY LECTURESHIP IN SOCIOLOGY
The Department of Social and Policy Sciences is seeking to
appoint a temporary lecturer in sociology to join our Grade
5 rated department and to contribute to our future plans
for teaching and research. The appointment will be for 18
months initially, starting February 2000. We are looking
for someone who can replace Professor Pat Carlen's teaching
in the area of crime, and who is also able to teach
introductory sociology courses. Applicants with strong
research and publishing records, or potential, in any area
of sociology are encouraged to apply. However, we are
looking for someone whose research can contribute to a
submission to the RAE panel in social policy.

successful candidate to take up their post from 1st

Salary: Lecturer Grade A 17,238 to 22,579
Lecturer Grade B 23,521 to 30,065
The appointment level will depend on qualifications,
research record and experience.
