Hello everybody,
I am currently working on a decision model for the freshwater inlet in the
East-Schelde in The Netherlands. The estuary is around 40 km x 10 km, with
to arms to the East. In the mouth there is a storm dam and the two fresh
water inlets are closed. Observed surface salinity is something like 29-32
ppt. The average freshwater flow during the 60's was between 50 and 100
m3/s, while nowadays is reduced to 9 m3/s.
There is interest in converting the present marine environment into a
brackish zone. Do you know of any cases addressing this transition (or
restoration)?
Best regards,
Rui Ferreira
