You have triggered one!!
In my experience students find Business Studies more
interesting, more relevant, and less theoretical than Economics.
This of course depends to a large extent on the examining board. They
therefore feel a little more motivated, and a little less intimidated, by the
course material.
Plus there are those look on Business as a soft option. (Oh dear what have I said)
Personally I find Business to be far from a soft option, particularly A-Level
or GNVQ Advanced, but I do prefer Economics.
Two independent school's I have worked at in the past have dropped Economics
in preference to Business Studies and their 6th Form roll has increased as a result.
Is the demise of Economics inevitable or is it just me??
