The Division of Comparative Studies invites
nominations and applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of
assistant professor in global studies of discourse and culture,
beginning autumn 2000. Scholars with research and teaching interests in
transnationalism, processes of globalization, postcoloniality, or in
other areas that complement the existing strengths of the Division are
particularly encouraged to apply.
Comparative Studies is an interdisciplinary unit that offers an M.A. in
comparative cultural studies; a B.A. with concentrations in comparative
literature, folklore, religious studies, and science studies; and minors
in American Studies and Asian American Studies. The faculty's scholarly
and curricular projects investigate the relationships among discourses,
practices, and cultures, with particular attention to questions of
knowledge, authority, identity, and difference. Further information is

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment. Please
