A couple of people have mentioned the ADA when talking about the ASBH
conference. The last time I looked, which was five or six years ago,
at the responsibilities for providing access at professional meetings
I discovered it's not required by the law. As I remember it,
professional and fraternal organizations are exempted.
That's not to say that the facility doesn't have a responsibility to
provide access. When conference planning I've been able to be tough
about meeting spaces, guest rooms, toilets, etc but have not ventured
into the arena requesting the hotel to provide access to the programs
presented by the people renting the facility. It's an interesting
question about responsibility. I don't think it's been adjudicated.
Does anyone know?
