The "Memorandum on Self-Regulation" covers the use of PICS and RDF in
self-regulation of Internet content. Note that the document is actually
in PDF format, which instantly makes it an "undesirable content" in my
books. ;)
Apparently people can be trusted to consistenly apply PICS ratings. I
can see that people who are concerned about "protecting the kiddies"
will apply PICS in a vastly different manner to people concerned with
distributing pictures of naked women.
I think PICS + Admin Core might be suitable to categorising for the
purpose of censorship (filtering undesirable content), while DC + Admin
Core is designed for categorising for the purpose of subject
identification & relevance ranking (resource discovery).
Are there any Fora (Forums?) available for the discussion of censorship
in general and censorship of the Internet in particular?
Alex
