simon, nick
while we're on the matter there's some other stuff:
-the student community action movement which is strong in most
british universities
- the wisconsin model in the USA one of the best examples of
university outreach based on the land grant tradition
- work in canada by Ian McAllister at Dalhousie - and his book
'working with the region'
- more radical student groups who, contrary to popular sterotypes of
most students these days, really get 'active' in the community such
as Student Action for People and Planet (SAPP) in newcastle and
leeds. Theres also the Campaign for Free Education (and the
lock in by students at sussex university's finance building for a
week this summer - who said student radicalism was dead)
- the Prelude (programme of Research and liasion between universies
for sustainable co-development) International Network based in
brussels
