Well, here is what the East Timor Support Group on Tyneside (0191 4140393
or 0795 7618575) is saying:
>With the country being systematically destroyed by the TNI (Indonesian Army)
>who appear to be operating a scorched earth policy before they leave we need
>the maximum pressure of our government to:
>* Support a UN peacekeeping force.
>* Stop arms exports to Indonesia.
>* Stop the invitation to the Indonesian generals to the arms fair in
>London next week.
>* Stop the International Monetary Fund loans to Indonesia, which only
>go to pay back western banks anyway.
What can you do? All the usual things! Write to, phone and fax PM and MPs /
MEPs, papers, the UN, the IMF, Indonesian govn; get out on the steets and
demonstrate, help support East Timorese refugees (we have two activists in
Newcastle whom we are supporting).
