Three research posts to work on usability and digital libraries:
We are seeking three researchers -- to work on HCI modelling, social
aspects of computing and technical developments respectively. Appointees
will join a team working on research related to digital libraries. The
posts are based in the School of Computing Science, but involve extensive
interaction with both other Schools in Middlesex University and
international collaborators.

Post 1: Researcher in HCI (ref.: COM32):
This post involves theoretical modelling of complex interactive systems in
particular, digital libraries and their users and the practical
application of that modelling to evaluate the usability of existing systems
and design new ones. It is funded by EPSRC.
Skill requirements: HCI research skills, including one or more of formal
modelling, usability evaluation and software development.
Post 2: Researcher in social aspects of computing (ref.: COM33):
This post is to conduct research on social aspects of computing. In
particular, the post-holder will investigate the process of introducing and
adapting to digital library technologies by both librarians and library
users in various organisational contexts.
Skill requirements: Social sciences, or Science and Technology Studies,
research skills, including observation-based data collection and analysis.
Post 3: Researcher in Digital Libraries (ref.: COM34):
The Digital Libraries Research Fellow will manage and keep the technical
infrastructure of the Digital Libraries project up to date, develop
software and hardware solutions for Digital Library projects, and conduct
related research.
Skill requirements: C, systems programming and Unix skills.
