yes, Look at the foot intrinsics. I have found that claw toes are developed
as a result of using the long toe flexors (responsible for the claw motion)
rather than the foot intrinsics (responsible for the paddle motion of the
toes). The exercise which is highly successful but takes time is to stand on
a towel and passively raise the toes into extension. then have the patient
push the toes to the floor (flexing at the MTP's rather than the DIP's). it
also hels to look at weight bearing and transfer of weight over the foot
during foot strike to toe off. most of these patients do not get good ankle
DF, hip ext during foot flat to toe off...they stay on their heels.
