Head of the Centre for the Study of Cartoons and Caricature
Applications are invited for the post of Head of the Centre for the Study of
Cartoons and Caricature based in the Templeman Library. The Head of the
Centre is responsible for the Centre's collections and services and for the
successful delivery of the CartoonHub project.
The Centre for the Study of Cartoons and Caricature is unique in Britain,
with over 80,000 cartoons reflecting contemporary political, social and
cultural issues. A recent award of funding for three years from the Research
Support Libraries Programme will enable the creation of CartoonHub, a
national hub for cartoon material of relevance to researchers. The project
partners are the British Library of Political and Economic Science, John
Rylands University Library Manchester, and the National Library of Wales.
The appointment will be until July 31 2002 in the first instance, and the
salary will be in the range £22,759-£30,065 per annum.
