3D CAPTURE STUDIO TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
Applications are invited for the above post to work at a part SHEFC
funded facility, "The 3D Capture Studio", in the Edinburgh Virtual
Environment Centre at The University of Edinburgh. (www.edvec.ed.ac.uk)
The Capture Studio provides unique facilities for 3D scanning, motion
capture, 3D modelling, and environmental capture of people, animals,
objects and places. The Centre will be used for research and industrial
applications in such fields as medicine, sports, veterinary science,
heritage, digital media, and a variety of industries.
The role of the technical assistant is to operate the various facilities
and systems under the guidance of the Capture Manager, to accommodate
the needs of users and provide training.
Ideally the candidate would have a technical ability to deal with
computer equipment combined with a creative aptitude. Possible
backgrounds might include computer animation, 3D modelling,
biomechanics, digital media production. The applicant would be expected
to demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work well in
a team.
Salary scale £15,735 - £23,651 p.a. (under review) with placement
according to age, experience and qualifications.
