old(er) subscriber here....been on the list from the start, ever since
I picked up a copy of 'the Vancouver Soundscape': a really informative
couple of Compact discs comparing the soundscape of the 70s with that
of the 90s. (original work carried out by R. Murray Schafer, continued by the
likes of H.Westerkamp, B. Truax et al.)
Acousmatic listening and electroacoustic music are my primary 'missions'
at Sheffield University.
I try to get students to think about sound outside of the standard paradigm.
I have been building the studios here for the last couple of years and our
Graduate room is now fully TDM Pro-Tools equipped.
I am also a director of Sonic Arts Network. Soundscape issues and Acoustic
Ecology
have recently been brought to the attention of the membership through
publications
like Diffusion and the Journal of Electroacoustic music. Sonic Arts Network
has a web site and an email list where discussion takes place on a variety
of issues.
I encourage you to visit the site and join Sonic Arts Network. We have an
anual
conference (this year it was in Huddersfield) and for your membership fee
(see site for details) you receive regular, informative material.
