Karina,
Sorry to hear of your injury.
I had the same instability levels following two auto accidents some 3 years
apart. When I began to lose my sense of touch and developed weakness I
proceeded with a spinal fusion. That was in 1968. Techniques and PT have
both improved significantly since my experience.
I have developed additional spurring and hypermobility both above and below
the fusion but I was an active tennis player up until I had my 5th knee
surgery and my wife now prohibits that activity so that I don't extend the
knee to a total replacement. My neck will have it's moments with flying and
barometric changes in the weather. I get some monster headaches if I sleep
wrong but I do my exercises and get in the shower and am off to what ever I
have planned for the day. Proper Posture is essential and keeping yourself in
shape and flexible with a good home program. I still exercise each day
following the shower and I rarely give my neck much thought.
I have taken golf up after a 25 yr lapse and I'm not experiencing any after
affects, spending too many hours in front of the computer will get me quicker.
I would determine your ongoing symptoms and stay away from the chiro.
Good luck.
Peter A. Towne, PT
