Systems and Interoperability Manager
The AHDS Executive seeks a dynamic individual to develop its
interoperability and access strategies and the suite of innovative
online systems upon which they rely. S/he will be the main focus of
technical advice within the Executive and will advise AHDS Services
Providers in developing their systems to ensure maximum
interoperability. S/he may also take on a national leadership role in
the development of resource discovery systems and contribute to
international standards work and service models.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a computing science
degree or equivalent experience with online systems. S/he will have:
*the ability to plan, organise and prioritise without close
supervision and to work as part of a geographically distributed team
*the ability to acquire knowledge about leading edge applications for
which little formal training is readily available;
*the ability to persuade, create consensus, and provide technical
leadership in a diverse community of partners;
*service and technical understanding of emerging resource
discovery systems;
*experience of setting up and maintaining network information
systems development experience in a Unix environment
*development experience with at least two of following: Web servers
(preferably Netscape Enterprise Server); SQL databases(preferably
Oracle); Z39.50 applications.
The post is available for one year in the first instance. An
appointment will be made on the ALC Grade 4 salary scale currently
£29,585 - £34,705 per annum inclusive of £2,134 per annum
London Allowance.
