Call for Papers
Political Culture in Central and Eastern Europe
Theoretical Approaches and Empirical Evidence
26-28 May 2000
European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), Germany
The conference will systematically explore various aspects of the
political culture approach and apply this approach to the current
transformation in Central and Eastern Europe. The panels will be
organized according to theoretical issues (e.g. rational choice and
political culture) as well as comparative empirical studies (e.g.
political support).
Proposals for paper presentations should focus on one of the following
points: - recent theoretical developments in the political culture
approach - political culture and democratization - comparative
analyses of political values and attitudes in Central and Eastern
Europe - specific aspects of political culture (e.g. nation-building,
social justice, religiousness)
Abstracts (1-2 pages) should be submitted by 31 Dec. 1999.
Accepted speakers will be informed by 31 Jan. 2000.
The conference language will be English.
