THE DEATH OF HOUSING POLICY?
The April issue of Policy & Politics presents a lively debate led by a
policy review from Peter Malpass with commentaries by Mark Kleinman and
Peter Williams.
Malpass looks at the idea that housing policy in Britain has come to an
end and makes particular reference to two recent texts by Bramley
(Housing policy: a case of terminal decline?) and Kleinman (Housing,
welfare and the State in Europe). Malpass argues that there are still
housing issues to be tackled, reviews the current UK Labour government
stance on housing and makes some proposals for the development of
housing policy.

‘NEW’ FEMINISM FOR A NEW MILLENNIUM?
Read Ruth Lister’s thought-provoking review in the April issue of
Policy & Politics.
Ruth Lister’s review of three very different, feminist texts (see
below) looks at the changing face of feminism over recent decades. She
analyses the current rethinking of what feminism means primarily in
policy terms but also on a personal level. Issues are highlighted
about what constitutes ‘work’ in our modern societies and how decisions
about motherhood and care are made by policy makers and women
themselves.

moral rationalities, Basingstoke: Macmillan. Sevenhuijsen, S. (1998)
