Nor should they. Plain ASCII text is the lingua franca of email on
the internet. We should stick to it. Unless we are communicating
in mathematical notations, or some other specialized mode, we
should leave to fonts and graphics to advertisements and art.
Yes, I agree, all non-text communications should be either
attachments or links. For some people, attachments read as
garbage, so links are better if you have a place to post things.
When I receive documents in Word I get annoyed, since it requires
a number of steps for me to open them. Plain text is best for
conversation.
