Hello
I am not sure if this forum is to be used for clinical questions but I
thought I would give it a go. I work with a two year old child with seizure
disorder and a general low level cognition. She has made wonderful progress
and crawls independently. She now has positive support and can walk if her
hips are held for support can walk with mod a-1 in a walker. She is ataxic
and has poor muscle grading. My question I pose is this:
She has bears weight with EXTREME hyperdorsiflexion which is the primary loss
of her balance when moving. I have her in AFO's which assist but now she
rocks back to bear weight on her heels particularly in the push off phase.
She does have somewhat of a plantar grasp which has been difficult to
integrate. Any suggestions on getting weight bearing on the toes?
Integrating the plantar grasp better? We have done some brushing and
desensitization on the toes in non weight bearing but that is all so far.
THanks for your help
