Funders Online - building Europe's online philanthropic community
Funders Online, an initiative of the European Foundation Centre, aims
to promote the use of Internet technology among independent funders
in Europe and to create a single point of reference to Europe's
philanthropic community.
The Funders Online website features the first Internet directory of
independent funder websites. Through Funders Online, users
can access the websites of 300+ foundations and corporate funders in
Europe with a total annual expenditure of over 3.5 billion euros.
The directory is designed to classify both foundation and corporate
funder website details as well as types of activities. It aims to
facilitate online funding information research and to increase the
visibility of the online independent funding community. Funders
can get involved by registering their website with Funders Online.
Funders who do not yet have a website can make use of the Funders
Online model websites - a fully operational tool which enables
funders to create a simple web presence with a minimum knowledge of
HTML.
Further, Funders Online offers access to a wealth of other Internet
resources on philanthropy and publishes major news from the
independent funding community.
Other features of the Web site include:
- the Funders Online directory, enabling visitors to look for project
partners and find out in a quick and easy way how peers employ the
web to do their work and promote philanthropy.
- the Funders Online Web Toolkit, which includes two sets of easy to
use model templates to help foundations develop
simple web presences and gain initial experience in using the web.
- the Grantseeker's corner, providing useful tips on how to research
and approach independent funders
Funders Online is an initiative of the European Foundation Centre
Orpheus Programme. The mission of the European Foundation
Centre (EFC) is to promote and underpin the work of foundations and
corporate funders in the New Europe. Orpheus, the information and
communications programme of the EFC, provides a public
record and a public information service on foundations and corporate
funders active in Europe. Funders Online is also part of ARIES, the
electronic information service of the social economy in Europe.
