Yes! Like why there isn't actually any "training", just academic education?
I suggest a 3-4 yr course, post-grads only (or those with equivalent
professional experience); Salaried clinical attachments at 18 months IF you
pass your pre-clinical exams, and convert to a Med Science degree (/other)
if you fail.
And since you are salaried (modestly) in your clinical years, if you don't
turn up, you're fired. This sould instill a little professionalism, and
provide man-power to fill-in-forms/take blood/do IVs/carry bits of paper to
XRay/act as a consultants dictaphone on ward-rounds, so house officers can
actually do some medicine, and you get decent 1st year SHOs in A+E.
