Hi,
I am new to the list and just would like to say hi to everyone. I am
a student at McMaster University. Presently, I am doing research in the
area of knee rehabilitation from various injuries such as ACL, meniscus
repair/removal, lateral release and tibial tubercle tansfer.
I have been unable to find a rehab protocol for Fulkerson Tibial
Tubercle transfer.
If anyone knows of one, or has one, could you please let me know.
I have spoken to a few orthopedic surgeons, and there are mixed
feelings about when patients should start weight bearing, how long splints
should be worn, when is an acceptable time to return to sports.
Obviously return to sports is based on the healing of the osteotomy
site, but is that the only criteria? Once that site is healed, is there is
a greater chance of fracture of the tibia later on than in someone who has
not had this procedure done?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Elizabeth
