I don't have any references for the ordinal arguments and I'm sorry if I
muddle things even further, but according to Price et al VAS is a ratio
scale.

I haven't checked all of those but I think you can find most of them, if not
all, in Microsoft Excel (on of the later versions). It also has quite good
help functions.
