"Librarians have to prove their versatility in all
fields of knowledge"
"The role of librarian will remain very important as
knowledge manager in the next electronic millennium"
"Are the librarians of today ready to accept and cope
with the impending changes?"
Dear List Member,
Your may recall that I recently posted a message to the list inviting
you to a Library Link / MCB sponsored workshop to be held at IFLA 99
at Bangkok, entitled "Partnerships in the Electronic Age: The Asia
Pacific Experience". The comments above have been taken from the
online discussion that is running as a precursor to the workshop.
I am sorry to say that places for the workshop are now full, however
the online discussion has no such limitations (nor are there any
geographic limitations). Just contribute simply follow the link to
http://www.mcb.co.uk/services/conferen/webforum/ifla-liblink-forum/.
The current topics:
1. The Role of the Librarian in the New Electronic Age
2. Archiving: who should do it and how?
3. Electronic Information: Issues for Library Acquisition and Usage
4. Consortia Challenges for the Asia Pacific Customer
Please feel free to post you comments questions and queries on any of the
above topics and if you are interested in the outcome, the results of the
workshop and online discussion will be published after the event on the
Library Link website at http://www.liblink.co.uk.
I look forward to reading your postings,
Yours
Chris Keenan
