I wonder if someone here can help me? I seem to remember that a
coule of decades ago or so there was published an English translation
and commentary on Galileo's early *Capitolo contro il portar la toga*.
This was a work of his early days as a Prof. of mathematics at Pisa,
1589-92, a pungent comment on the custom/rule requiring the wearing of
academic robes. The poem was in a style related to traditional
vernacular forms.
I have been looking in all the bibliographies pertaining to the
Hist of Sci. & Tech. and the Bibliografia Galileiana, so far with
no luck.
Any citations, suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.
