Fully funded three-year PhD studentship on 'The Politics of Business
Representation in the English Regions.'
Applications are invited for a three-year fully funded PhD studentship
under the supervision of Dr Andrew Wood (Department of Geography) and
Dr David Valler (Department of Town and Regional Planning) at the
University of Sheffield commencing September 1999.
The proposed research will examine the processes through
which regional business interests are constructed, and seek to gauge the
extent, nature and impact of business involvement in economic
governance in the English regions.
Applications are invited from candidates with a good undergraduate
degree in geography, planning, politics or any cognate social
science.
The studentship will cover Home/EU fees, maintenance at the basic
Research Council rate ((£6,620 for 1999/2000) and a Research Training
Support Grant (at £500 pa).
