Deborah,
I suggest that you try these two NZ texts :
Human Services : Toward Partnership and Support
O' Brien, P., & Murray, R. (Eds.). (1997)
Palmerston North : The Dunmore Press.
Disability, Family, Whanau and Society
Ballard, K. (Ed.). (1994)
Palmerston North : The Dunmore Press.
The first text has a range of international contributors and canvases a
cluster of issues that are relevant to your request. The second is
significant in that its contributors are predominantly parents and
caregivers, both Maori and Pakeha whose writing challenges the medical
model as well as the dominant white mono-cultural approach.
Best wishes - Rod Wills.
