The Evaluation of Learning Technology (ELT 99)
Monday November 15th, 1999
London Voluntary Resource Centre, Holloway Road
****************************************************
Deadline for submissions: 9th August
(with apologies for cross-postings...)
ELT 99 is an opportunity for practitioners and researchers involved
in the evaluation of Learning Technology to meet and discuss current issues.
The one-day conference will build on last year's event by concentrating on
pragmatic issues: the focus for this year's event is on putting evaluation into
practice. ELT 99 will include paper presentations, posters, workshops and
discussion sessions on a range of topics, including:
* The practicalities of evaluation: best practice in evaluating learning
technology, evaluation and performance monitoring, lessons learnt from
evaluations that 'failed'
* Tools that support evaluation: the use of computers, toolkits, staff
development, etc.
* Evaluating the cost of Learning Technology use
* Strategies for evaluation: models, methodologies, and Quality Assurance
Submissions are invited on any of the above topics. Other areas related to
these themes may also be considered. Priority will be given to papers that
report on completed empirical work.
Submissions should be in the form of extended abstracts (up to 1,500 words),
and should state whether they are intended as a paper presentation, poster,
workshop or discussion session. Discussion sessions should include the names of
any panel members who have agreed to participate. Abstracts will be peer
reviewed, and will be published as part of the conference proceedings, which
will be available to delegates on the day. Additionally, a post-conference
publication is being sought, to which full papers, based on submitted
abstracts, will be invited.
Proposals should be sent in electronic format (either as a plain text email, or
as an attached Word or rtf file) to [log in to unmask] by the 9th of August.
The conference will be held in the London Voluntary Resource Centre, which is 5
minutes walk from the University of North London and Holloway Road tube
station.
