Hi
Some years ago I helped construct an archaeological database which was
searchable on the WWW. The software is still to hand and could be adapted
for some other use.
How about a springs and wells database? It could be searchable over 5 fields
for example: 1) name 2) location address and grid ref. 3) brief history of
up to 300 words 4) persons associated with the site 5) text references for
further research.
Anyone could add data to the site - all they would need to do is type it to
a set format on WORD and then send it to me. I would update the web site
every week or so, adding in all the new data that has arrived. In that way a
massive searchable database could be produced over time.
Let me have your thoughts before taking this one further.
