GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIP IN
PHYSIOTHERAPY STUDIES
This post would provide the opportunity to study full-time
for a PhD while gaining supervised teaching experience
(leading to a Certificate in Higher Education Teaching),
and would be particularly suited to physiotherapists, or
those in closely-allied fields, who are contemplating a
career in research and/or education. There are excellent
links with local clinical services and other academic
departments in the University.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate would
pursue a PhD in the area of chronic
musculoskeletal/rheumatological pain, and would work
alongside other researchers working in this field in the
Primary Care Sciences Research Centre.
The Assistantship covers the fees for PhD registration of
£2675 and provides a maintenance grant of £6455 (under
review). Accommodation on the campus is normally available
(though residence fees are not covered in the Assistantship
award).
RESEARCH ASSISTANT : NECK PAIN STUDY

with the opportunity to combine proven clinical expertise,
management and organisational skills within a research
environment? We have a position which will provide an
outstanding research opportunity for a suitably
experienced, enthusiastic, musculoskeletal physiotherapist.
As a result of successfully securing funding from the
Arthritis Research Campaign for a trial, "The effectiveness
of manual therapy or pulsed shortwave diathermy (PSWD) in
addition to exercises and advice for neck disorders; a
pragmatic study in physiotherapy clinics", we are seeking
to appoint a full-time study coordinator to work with the
principal investigator. Applications are invited from
physiotherapists who have a high standard of skill and
experience in the management of musculoskeletal disorders.
We are a friendly and enthusiastic multidisciplinary
research team working in the newly formed Centre for
Primary Care Sciences at Keele University.
Current or recent involvement in research would be an
advantage. You should be eligible for state registration
and preferably hold a higher degree. A current driving
licence and a car are essential, as travel between centres
within the West Midlands Region will be necessary.
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills are
required, as are computer skills. There may be an
opportunity to develop your own research linked with this
project.
The starting salary for the Research Assistant post would
be £23,130.
Both posts are fixed term for three years, and would be
