Positional Release Therapy for the lower quadrant

This course introduces the osteopathic concept of Positional Release Therapy
which aids in the evaluation and treatment of somatic dysfunction's. The body or
body part which is in dysfunction is placed in the position of greatest comfort,
thereby relieving pain, joint hypomobility, fascial tension and protective
muscle spasm. This is mostly a hands-on workshop with the focus of teaching
techniques which are unique to PRT regarding evaluation, prioritizing findings
and treatment of muscle guarding. This course focuses on the lumbar spine,
pelvis, sacrum, hips and lower extremities.
Fascial Release Techniques II: Focus on the Cranium.
August 19th-21st 1999 Chepstow Hospital, Chepstow, Gwent, South Wales.
This course has been designed to introduce the student to the general concepts
and principles of Cranial Release techniques. As a student you will further your
understanding of what fascia is, by exploring the deepest layer of fascia the
dura mater of the brain and spinal cord. An understanding of the anatomy of the
craniosacral system will be developed through palpation. You will learn to
evaluate for both osseous (sutural) and soft tissue (membranous) dysfunction's
in the cranial region. You will learn to evaluate and treat for adaptations,
cranial trauma and birth defects. This hands on workshop will provide the
opportunity to explore the various types of cranial dysfunction and release
techniques.
Muscle Energy techniques for the lower quadrant
August 22nd-24th 1999 University of Keele, Staffordshire.
This course introduces you to the osteopathic concept of MET developed by Dr
Fred Mitchell, Sr., D.O.. MET is a direct technique in which the therapist
utilizes the muscle barrier concept to position the patients' body at their
restrictive barriers. A gentle isometric contraction is used by the patient to
normalize the joint dysfunction. he goal of MET is to correct motion
restrictions and improve the clients functional range of motion. It is a very
gentle technique. The focus of the course is to teach techniques which are
unique to MET regarding evaluation, prioritizing findings and treatment of joint
stiffness. This course deals with the pelvis, sacrum, hips and lower
extremities.
