In response to your query - there is a tradition of chimney
sweeps attending weddings in the Black Country (the
industrial area of the West Midlands)there are often
pictures of this tradition taking place in our local evening
newspapers. As to the origin of this practice, I have no
idea, so sorry I have only been able to give you a snippet
of information.
