4th NORTHUMBRIA ASSESSMENT CONFERENCE

Places for delegates are still available at the 4th Northumbria Assessment
Conference "Assessment for the Learning Society", an international
conference with a focus on assessment of student learning in higher
education. The conference will be held from 1st-3rd September, 1999 at the
University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK (Longhirst Campus).
Over 30 papers have been accepted from presenters in a wide variety of
countries including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe and the UK.
Keynote speakers are:
Professor David Boud, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia
Professor Freda Tallantyre, University of Derby, UK
Dr Karen Hinett, University of Bristol, UK
In addition there will be an optional one day workshop (31st August- 1st
September) run by Professor Phil Race, focusing on such issues as:
Fairness, consitency, cheating and plagarism
Assessing undegraduate dissertations
Assessing effective practice
Assessing labs and practicals
