Dear Mirna,
I was working about Italian Rap mainly in its linguistic aspects. I would
like to know if your collegue is interested mainly in sociocultural
aspects or if linguistic works would be of any use, too (for example there
is the very interesting aspect of politically engaged rap in Italy to use
the dialects again, somehow in the function of slang).
I could send you several bibliographic hints in the field of linguistics
(for example
Arno Scholz: Neo-standard e variazione diafasica nella canzone italiana
degli anni Novanta. Frankfurt am Main: Peter Lang 1998, X + 333 Seiten,
DM 89.- (=VarioLingua, 5).
has an extensive chapter about rap where you could find also lots of group
names) but if your collegue is only interested in group names
there are some (the very known) of them:
Politically engaged Rap:
99Posse
Almamegretta
Sud Sound System
....
'Rap giovanile':
Jovanotti
Articolo 31
.....
Feel free to ask me more, Eva Remberger
