24 Countries Acclaimed Our PowerSaver Program
and the Value of Giving Your Monitor a Power Nap!

A full color technical brochure on the innovative PowerSaver program is now
available from the
Center for the Analysis and Dissemination of Demonstrated Energy
Technologies (CADDET).
The technical brochure was sponsored by the National Research Council (NRC)
of Canada and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. These brochures are
produced for only one successful study of an energy technology worldwide.

Nick Green is honored to have been chosen!

THE INDEPENDENT RESEARCH: Ontario's Green Workplace installed PowerSaver
energy-saving devices on all the computers at the Ministry of Environment
and Energy's headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
No, the computers were not doing it already. In the whole building
only a single PC monitor was found to have been properly powered down by
its software.
Close investigation showed that the energy-saving software in these
units had either not been enabled by the vendor before shipping, or was
disabled by IT personnel or the users themselves. Turning the energy-saving
software off occurred either inadvertently during software upgrades, or
intentionally when the EnergyStar file was suspected as a culprit in a
software conflict.
Net energy savings over the twelve months totalled $20,650. At a
one-time acquisition cost of 307 times $40 = $12,280, these energy savings
correspond to a payback period of seven months and an ROI of 168 percent.
These results were achieved at an electrical rate of
$0.083/kWh...(continued on the CADDET web site)

CADDET Energy Efficiency collects, analyses and enhances international
exchange of impartial information on new, cost-effective, energy-saving
technologies. You can see the full Nick Green register entry at-
